Trim your parasol with crochet, oh yes!

It was so sunny today I put up the parasol, but it was so boring! So.... I decided to embellish it a bit. I got out all my crochet books to find some stitches that would work. My first thought was to do a bit of freestylin' but then I remembered I don't know enough so I'm rubbish at that, lol.

So this is what I did...

I found a few stitches I liked, measured the edge of the parasol, and cracked on. Here's a pattern if anyone's interested :)

Ch = Chain
Tr = Triple crochet
Dc = Double crochet
SLC = (Yo, insert hook, yo, draw up 2cm loop) twice in same st (5 loops on hook), draw through all except last loop, yo, draw through remaining 2 loops.
Yo = Yarn over hook
DLC = (yo, insert hook, yo, draw up 2cm loop) twice in stitch indicated for 1st leg (5 loops on hook), (yo, insert hook, yo, draw up 2cm loop) twice in stitch indicated for second leg (9 loops on hook), yo, draw through all except last loop, yo, draw through rem 2 loops.

Using DK and a 4mm hook, chain however many you need, turn

Row 1: Dc in 2nd chain from hook, *skip next 2ch, 5tr in next ch, skip next 2 ch, dc in next ch; rep from * across, turn.

Row 2: 3ch (counts as tr), 2tr in first st. *skip next 2 tr, dc in next tr, lch, skip next (2tr, dc) SLC in next tr, (2ch DLC, working in first leg in same stitch as last stitch made and working second leg in next tr) 4 times, 2ch, slc in same stich as last stitch made, 1ch, skip next (dc 2tr) dc in next tr, skip next 2 tr, 5 tr in next dc; rep from * across, bind off.

After sewing it to the parasol, I added some old glass chandelier drops to the corners for a bit of spingle-spangle.
